The video above is a clip from Clouds, a documentary about programming by Jonathan Minard and James George. The interviews are shot using a Kinect 3D camera and interposed with visualisations from the same source. It raises questions about how the increasing number of embedded visual sensors in our world see us. How might designers need to understand this digital view of the world to ensure they can build contextual experiences which take advantage of this technology? Also, how will humans look back at the digital sensors observing them and what does this mean for the physical design of these sensors, many of which are so deeply embedded in their host devices as to be almost invisible?
