The user

The 'Full Communications Wearable Computer' (FCWC) is a portable and ergonomic jacket (or device) designed and created for helping professional people such as:

  • medical emergency teams
  • doctors
  • mining engineers
  • photographers
  • journalists
  • firemen
  • rescue teams
  • security teams
  • archaeologists
  • explorers
  • geographers

It can also be used for mobile marketing and advertising.

FCWC solves many communication problems and enables in-field data capture and manipulation including images voice pictures and video. This is very important in emergencies or for professional and technical requirements.

    The experience

The Jacket is made from cotton and other fibres, providing a sporting and ergonomic fit. The objective is to combine advanced electronic devices to create a ‘mobile computer’ better suited to field activities than notebooks, PDAs, smartphones and traditional mobile phones.

The equipment allows for totally handsfree interaction through voice activation and intelligent operation. At the heart of this design is a mobile phone and a miniature external hard disk.

How does the FCWC work as a computing and communications center?

The energy source is from lightweight batteries (long life) and solar panels cells.

All of the peripheral devices, e.g. mini LCD tactile touchscreen, mobile phone, energy units, digital camera and touch pad, may be connected to the hard disk and processor unit by the multiple USB ports available.

FCWC is being developed and is in the test stage.
