The user

The 3G Dating Agency is a community designed for adults (aged 18+) who want to use their mobile phones to safely chat and meet with new friends. The service can be accessed at anytime and from anywhere and works on every 3G Phone and every 3G Network globally. Hence our service is available to anyone on the planet that has an internet enabled handset and is interested in meeting other like minded people.

The experience

The 3G Dating Agency is a safe, fully moderated mobile community that makes it possible to find new friends or partners for fun, dating and long term relationships. It doesn’t require anything to be downloaded or installed and is free to join and browse from your mobile or PC. The design of the service ensures that the personal contact details of members remain private and it has a unique video validation process that ensures members are real people aged 18+. By making it possible to chat with and make 3G Video Calls with other members before arranging to physically meet up the service can help members start “taking the waiting out of dating”.

Members can easily filter the member profiles by using three simple buttons named “My Type”, “Not My type” and “Don’t Show Again” that feature alongisde every profile. This helps the user manage the small real estate of the phone screen effectively by bringing to the top the profiles he/she might be interested in and pushing down the order the ones they may not be interested in. Additionally, by selecting “Don’t Show Again”, the user not only removes that profile from their own browsing, but their profile is also removed from sight in the browser of the person they have removed. This has two clear benefits for both parties. When a member removes a profile they won’t see it again, thus saving them time and helping them to focus on ones they are interested in. On the other hand the member who has their profile removed will not see the profile of the person who is not interested in them, thus simultaneously improving their browsing experience by removing a member who has expressed a lack of interest in them. Because the service works anywhere we enable traveling members to find others, regardless of geographical location. For example a member traveling from London to Madrid can arrange a date in Madrid when he gets there, or even better, before they depart from London.

The innovations that have been introduced by The 3G Dating Agency have received popular press coverage from the likes of Time Magazine, the Telegraph, Guardian and the BBC including:

“…this service might make 3G Video calling a reality” – Gareth Mitchell, BBC

“ this service might just be the thing that actually encourages people to start Video Calling.” – Bill Thompson, BBC

“I have yet to see anyone using a 3G phone for a video call. If Romi Parmar can change that he will deserve an Order of Merit from grateful handset manufacturers and network operators.” – Victor Keegan, Technology Correspondent, The Guardian

The 3G Dating Agency service is very upfront about charges and is:

- Free to join

- Free to create a profile

- Free to browse profiles of other members

- Free to receive messages from other members

- Free to leave

Members only ever pay to send messages to other members and these are charged at only 50p each. The service involves no premium mobile billing/subscriptions and it’s prepaid so it allows members to easily control their costs.
