Cash-U expands into content provisioning

Cash-U, provider of the Pecan development and deployment platform for wireless games, has expanded its product range to support mobile content provisioning. The Multimedia Provisioning System (MPS) can be used to deliver ringtones, icons, EMS, Nokia Smart Messages, MMS and Java to users’ handsets.

The platform includes an interface for operators to integrate it with existing billing systems. There is also a web interface which can be used by consumers to generate their own content and send it to their handsets. Cash-U claims it will be deployed by a major European operator by the end of the year. The company already counts Vodafone Omnitel and Telefonica among its customers.

Amir Peleg, CEO of Cash-U Mobile Technologies said: “The MPS offers operators an open and reliable media-rich provisioning solution that enables them to exploit a new revenue stream. The MPS, coupled with the Pecan platform, provides operators with a comprehensive and robust entertainment solution. MMS is the must-have application for todays mobile users, and Cash-Us MPS enables operators to exploit this growing market.”

Insight

Cash-U has gained good traction for its Pecan platform by providing an end-to-end solution for operators seeking to satisfy fast-growing demand for mobile gaming. Support for other types of entertainment content is a logical expansion of the company’s business.

Indeed, dedicated gaming platform vendors may find in a few short months that they are losing out to more diversified platform providers. As smaller operators become the primary marketing focus of the various platform developers, companies which can offer pre-integrated and end-to-end solutions for a range of mobile content will find it easier to win new business with cash-strapped carriers.
