This is part of our ongoing series of ‘Meet the speakers’ articles, introducing you to the line-up of leading mobile executives taking part at the MEX conference in London on 2nd – 3rd May 2007.
Sofia Svanteson is one of the user experience experts who will lead a breakout team at MEX. Everyone attending the conference joins one of several focused teams for the duration of the event. The teams are led by top facilitators such as Sofia, who will help delegates make the most out of the group discussions and take part in setting the agenda.
Sofia is back as the CEO of Ocean Observations devoted to keeping both clients and employees happy. She has played several roles in Ocean’s history and whether it is about sales, marketing or GUI concept design, the mobile end user is always in her focus. Sofia has had the opportunity to work for companies such as Samsung, Hutchison 3G, Motorola and Telefónica Móviles. Before founding Ocean in 2001 Sofia worked as an information designer for 4 years at the Razorfish offices in Stockholm, London and New York.
We asked each facilitator to tell us why they were taking part at MEX and this is what Sofia told us…
I have worked with user experience issues and mobile products for 8 years, and I am delighted to see that decision makers are starting to listen and act upon requests and suggestions from us MEX-people. It’s not just talk, talk, talk, but stakeholders from major companies to small start-ups strive to design products and services with the user in mind. MEX is where a lot of them come together to discuss, debate and decide upon a more usable, useful and beautiful mobile future. I would not want to miss that.
