MEX Inspirations for 28th May 2009

Live brain surgery Readers in the UK can tonight watch the removal of a pituitary tumour live on television (Channel 4, 10pm). The surgery is being performed at the Wellcome Collection by consultant neurosurgeon Nick Thomas from Kings College Hospital. The pituitary gland is located at the base of the brain in centre of the skull. The surgery will be performed while the patient is conscious, with the entire operation conducted through tools inserted through one nostril. In case you hadn’t noticed, we live in truly amazing times.
