MEX Notes: Splitscreen wins Nokia Shorts video competition
- Splitscreen wins Nokia Shorts video competition – MEX alumnus James Whatley featured this video on his blog, entitled 'Splitscreen' by JW Griffiths. The video is remarkable in itself, but all the more so for being produced using 2 Nokia N8 mobile phones and a $5000 budget. It won the recent Nokia Shorts competition. The film picks up on 2 recent MEX Pathways: #8, which explores how mobile devices are enabling new forms of creativity, and #2, focused on how experiences can be split across multiple touchpoints. In this case, those touchpoints are on separate continents. The creative medium (video) may be traditional, but the ability to shoot at such quality, on such a small budget, is a sign of what's being enabled by mobile devices.
