OZ wins KPN instant messaging deal

OZ Communications, the mobile instant messaging platform provider, has won a major deal with Dutch operator KPN to power its MSN Messenger offering. The application will be available to all of KPN’s i-Mode users and connects directly with the user’s existing MSN account – subscribers simply enter their existing login details into the mobile application to access the same buddy lists they use on their PCs.

OZ is best known for its instant messaging products, which work with all major IM systems, but it is also extending its focus on quick, easy-to-use communications to consumer email. The company has developed an integrated platform which allows IM-style access to email services such Hotmail from mobile devices.

The strong emphasis on speed of communication, usability and seamless integration on the server-side makes the OZ solution one of the most compelling communication experiences on a mobile device. As well as supporting all of the major consumer IM and email platforms, OZ offers client support for J2ME, BREW, RIM and Windows Mobile.
