Qtopia continues to deliver strategic business advantage by empowering continuous product innovation. In the world of mobile computing, Qtopia was the first commercially available application platform for Linux-based mobile phones and PDAs.
Qtopia inherits the benefits of an established Trolltech community of commercial and open source developers complemented by world-class partnerships.
Benoit Schillings, CTO of Trolltech and a veteran of the mobile internet, will speak in the session entitled: “INTRA-DEVICE AND MULTIPLE INTERFACE CHALLENGES” on 1st June 2006 at MEX. You can read full details of the session here.
Benoit joined Trolltech in October 2005 serving as Chief Technology Officer responsible for leveraging Trolltech’s existing technologies and services in addition to strengthening the company’s ability to bring new technologies quickly to market.
He was a principal contributor to the launch of Be Incorporated, where he designed, developed and implemented the technically acclaimed BeOS. More recently, Schillings comes to Trolltech from his position as CTO at Openwave Systems where he was responsible for the structure, design and operation of Openwave Phone Suite Version 7. In 2003, he was named Distinguished Engineer for his influential work in the conception of “top to bottom” integrated software for mass-market phones.
Asked why Trolltech is participating at MEX and what he hopes to gain from the event, Benoit told us: “The MEX community is rich in opinion leaders and strategic thinkers. Trolltech’s Qtopia runs wherever embedded Linux runs, and allows delivery of consistent branding and user experience across all device categories. This is a distinctive value proposition offering strategic advantage, not just tactical benefit, and this difference is well understood and highly valued at MEX.”
