Designers are finding ever more creative ways to explore 3D interfaces using today’s mobile devices, pushing the boundaries of illusion and current technology in an attempt to simulate visual depth. David Young, of BMW Group’s DesignWorks unit, highlighted a few of these in a recent blog post.

The desire to ‘hack’ visual depth with existing technology suggests a pent up demand for the new 3D technology due to emerge on mobile devices in the next 12 to 18 months, such as glassless, stereoscopic 3D displays and video cameras.
