Japan Corporate News network (JCN) has an interesting article on NEC Magnus’ new 3D spatial search service for mobile devices. The system, developed in partnership with NETDIMENSION, CAD Center, Asia Air Survey, Asahi Kasei Microsystems and CyberMap Japan, combines GPS and electronic compass to enable users to find out more information about venues and services in the real world, simply by pointing at the items in 3D space.
Another interesting example of how mobile technology is linking us with the physical environment. This was one of the key theme areas of our last MEX conference – you can purchase the report from this event here.
