Meet the speakers: Mark Payton, Online Editorial Director, Haymarket Consumer Media

The next MEX Conference is all about the unique, multi-platform user experiences which can happen at the intersection of digital appliances, traditional media and wireless networks. We’re delighted Mark Payton, editorial director for one of the UK’s best known publishing companies – Haymarket – will be joining us to share his ideas on this subject. Haymarket is responsible for some of the most respected titles on the newstand, including What Hi-Fi?, Stuff and WhatCar?, and their associated online assets

His session is entitled ‘What could happen at the intersection of physical experience and the digital environment? ‘.

Payton studied journalism at the London College of Printing in the late 80s, before cutting his teeth for two years as a reporter with a local London newspaper.

He subsequently edited in just about every specialist magazine market, including photography, motoring, music, caravanning and even personal finance. He edited Haymarket’s two flagship buyer’s guides – WhatCar? and What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision – during the mid-90s, then took on Stuff when Haymarket bought the title from Dennis in 2000.

Today, Payton is Digital Editorial Director of Haymarket Consumer in 2006, with responsibility for the editorial quality of company’s growing portfolio of websites.

Read more about him in his full bio on the MEX web-site.
