OMTP, the industry forum for simplifying the customer experience of mobile data services, has signed an agreement to work in close partnership with PMN to endorse the MEX conference on 2nd – 3rd May 2007.

Backed by many of the largest mobile carriers, including Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, Telefonica and Cingular, OMTP defines requirements for standardised application interfaces and consistent user experience across multiple devices.

MEX is a two day conference which brings together the leading minds in mobile telecoms to learn, debate and network. PMN has challenged 10 of the most creative speakers in the industry to respond directly to the 10 points of the MEX manifesto; they will deliver 10 presentations exploring all aspects of the mobile user experience and inspire a series of breakout groups and panels where executives from across the value chain work together to define a response to the manifesto.

The agreement covers a wide range of joint marketing activities to promote the conference and the OMTP’s role at the event.

Dr Nicholas Allott, CTO at the OMTP, said: “OMTP recognises the value of the MEX conference in contributing to the debate and evolution of the mobile user experience. It therefore plays a significant role in OMTP mission of creating an open ecosystem for advanced mobile platforms that support enhanced subscriber experiences.”

Allott is participating in a panel session addressing point # 7 of the MEX manifesto, looking at how personalisation needs to built into every level of the mobile supply chain.

Marek Pawlowski, Editorial Director for PMN, commented: “MEX is where the industry comes to drive change in user experience. We’re delighted OMTP is endorsing MEX and look forward to welcoming a key group of decision makers from the operator community to the conference.”

The PMN Mobile User Experience (MEX) conference is at Wallacespace, 2 Dryden Street, London, WC2E 9NA, UK on 2nd – 3rd May 2007. Delegate attendance is priced at GBP 1349 (+ VAT @ 17.5% where applicable). Visit www.pmn.co.uk/mex/register.shtml for more information.
