The MEX sessions begin with an introduction to the 7 Pathway areas from MEX directors Marek Pawlowski and Norbert Metzner, setting the scene for 2 days of inspiring presentations and creative team exercises, hosted amid the comfort of Wallacespace and fuelled by the healthy creations of our on-site chefs. The agenda includes:

Priya Prakash, Head of User Experience at Nokia returns to keynote MEX and inspire new thinking across our 7 Pathway areas. Jason Mills, Editor, Web Development at ITV News brings 20 years of journalist and media experience to the Pathway #2 challenge of multi-touchpoint design. Christoph Raethke explores future interactions with the latest gestural interface innovations from Deutsche Telekom’s T-Labs, touching on Pathway #9.
Alexander Asseily, Chairman of Jawbone, shares his perspective on smart accessories (Pathway #10) and health experiences (Pathway #5), bringing insights from the development of the beautiful Jambox sound system and UP personal health product. Lindsey Green & Alyson Webb of Frankly, Green + Webb team up to explore the role of sound and tactility in mobile user experience (Pathway #9), drawing on work for cultural institutions include TATE, The Science Museum and National Gallery. Andrew Muir Wood of Plan brings his latest research on super local interactions (Pathway #11), examining best practice for interfaces such as touch-to-pay, touch-to-share and stretching beyond.
Ben Medlock, co-founder and CTO of TouchType, applies his research background in computational linguistics and industry experience of AI to explore how inference techniques can be used to model the decision making capabilities of the brain (Pathway #12). Andrea Lewis applies her academic background in cyber-psychology to provoke new thinking about the effect of digital interactions on human behaviour and memory in Pathway #12. Jim Kosem of Halfman Research and Design, looks at the role of audio in mobile user experience, sharing lessons learned during a challenging project creating digital monuments for victims of war crimes.
Ben Scott-Robinson of We Love Mobile provokes new ideas about the future of multi-touchpoint experiences (Pathway #2), sharing his view from the helm of one of the UK’s leading creative agencies and boundless personal enthusiasm for the digital world. Mo Firouzabadian, Head of Connected Devices at Buongiorno, looks at how multiple touchpoints can be combined into an experience greater than the sum of its parts and the opportunities for service providers to create connected eco-systems. Nicholas Wheeler comes to MEX after 30 years at the top of the media industry, running ITN’s new technology initiatives and managing radio stations such as LBC, to provide his insight into a future where new media formats may bring communities closer together.
Isobel Demangeat of Qualcomm shares the results of 6 months research into how consumers use augmented reality to connect with objects and the physical environment (Pathway #11). Jo Rabin, co-founder of MobileMonday London and one of the industry’s most experienced CTOs, returns to facilitate Pathway #10 on using smart accessories to transform the mobile experience. Charles Lilley, Chairman of Health Systems Group, brings a wealth of healthcare industry expertise to help understand the opportunities and challenges of mobile healthcare experiences (Pathway #5).
Gavin Evans of the Digital Accessibility Centre helps MEX understand the role of sound and tactility for disabled users. Marek Pawlowski, founder of MEX, curates the programme and ongoing initiative. Norbert Metzner, director at MEX, brings his extensive mobile industry experience to shape the agenda.
Franco Papeschi returns to MEX after his memorable session on sustainability and digital technology, this time facilitating the Pathway #13 challenge on turning down the visual volume of mobile interfaces with quiet design techniques. Angel Salazar, CEO of AIDA Technology, and a pioneer in the field of medical and digital explores the use of mobile devices and wireless networks to put consumers in control of their health. Marcus Hoggarth, Design Director at Native, examines the methodology of smart accessory development in Pathway #10, sharing insight gained from his work on the acclaimed Bowers & Wilkens Zeppelin and his broad portfolio of cutting edge client work.

Marek Pawlowski is the founder of MEX. Since 1995, he has focused the MEX business on helping digital industries to develop better, more profitable products through improved understanding of user behaviour with mobile devices and wireless networks. MEX is best known for its events, research and consulting, which balance commercial, technical and user insights to define the future of mobile user experience.
