• Source article: Disney Appmates turns iPad into virtual playmat
  • MEX note: This is one of the most interesting examples we’ve seen so far of a multi-touchpoint user experience, combining physical toys with a virtual playmat simulated on the screen of an iPad. It highlights the potential for distributed experiences to span a wide range of objects and break outside the limitations of screen-based digital devices.

Wonderful to see a brand like Disney extending its stories into new domains.

We'll be looking for more of these examples as we continue the work on MEX Pathway #2 (entitled: 'Research the implications of multiple touchpoints within a continuous experience') in the run-up to the next MEX in London on 30th November & 1st December 2011.
