  • Use a White Noise Ringtone to Find Your Lost Cellphone Faster – MEX alumnus and award winner Sarah Lipman shared this interesting piece about white noise ringtones on her Twitter feed (@power2b). It relates to Pathway #9, which explores the audible dimension of user experience. With so much emphasis placed on visual design, audio design is too often an afterthought on mobile devices. The frustration of not being able to locate a ringing phone before the call goes to voicemail comes up time and time again in user interviews. This article looks at how a ringtone designer too inspiration from fire alarms to use white noise tones to help users locate their device more quickly. A simple and clever enhancement to user experience which almost anyone can implement.
